Neil Gourley and Lina Nielsen delivered record-breaking performances at the Keely Klassic in Birmingham, setting new British indoor marks in their respective events.
Despite Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson withdrawing due to a hamstring injury, the competition remained electrifying. Nielsen shattered Dina Asher-Smith's women's 300m record by 0.24 seconds, clocking an impressive 36.53 seconds. Gourley, meanwhile, rewrote history in the men’s 1,000m, finishing in 2:16.74—beating Charlie Grice’s 2020 record by 0.46 seconds.
However, Gourley’s time wasn’t enough for victory, with the Netherlands' Samuel Chapple taking the win in 2:16.09.
Georgia Bell came agonizingly close to another British record, winning the 1500m in 4:00.63—just over a second shy of Laura Muir’s national mark. Meanwhile, world indoor champion Molly Caudery impressed in the women's pole vault, clearing 4.73m, only 2cm short of her season’s best.
